UPDATE: I have paid the movers all except $680 thanks to the help of all who donated. I could still use help with the remaining balance. I ended up trading in my car for a 2020 Nissan Kicks with only 5750 miles and a 100k warranty. So we now have reliable transportation, but also a car payment I wasn’t prepared for by looking forward to getting on the road. Probably Monday January 9th.
My name is Cathy, and I’m reaching out for help for myself and my daughter. In 2019, I left Florida due to health issues and moved to Arizona to be closer to family. Thankfully, my health has improved, but my daughter, who has rotokyphoscoliosis and severe asthma, has struggled here. The weather, hay, ragweed, and dust in Arizona have made her miserable, and I know moving back to Florida will help her feel better again.
I gave up our apartment as of January 31 and was working extra to save for the move. But then, my car’s transmission failed. Even though I have an extended warranty, the company is demanding a large sum just to take it apart and see if the repair is covered. If it’s not, I would lose that money, which I don’t even have. On top of that, my rent was raised unexpectedly, and my daughter’s emotional support puppy got sick, leading to two vet visits. I also had to rent a car for work, but then I got sick and ended up in the hospital with diverticulitis, so I couldn’t work anyway.
Now, I have to be out of our apartment by the end of the month. I need reliable transportation because my daughter has many doctor’s appointments, and I have a place rented in Florida starting February 1. But I can’t afford a U-Haul or moving company to get our things across the country. I hate asking for help, but if I can’t make this work, we’ll lose everything and be homeless without a vehicle. It’s just me, my daughter, and our two small dogs. Anything you can give will help us fix our car, move, or even just store our things until we can afford to get to Florida. Thank you for reading and for any support you can offer.
