I’m not good at asking for help, It shames me terribly, but this is important and I’m in a pickle.

I’ve been out from work on short term disability since October 25th, 2025, and I’m now waiting for my long term disability determination from my private insurance. It’s been a really tough time, and I haven’t received a check since late January. I had to use my tax refund just to keep up with bills, and now I’m struggling to make ends meet.

I need to move to Mississippi so I can afford to live and be closer to my son, Nicholas, who’s in college there. Recently, Nicholas told us he wants us there, and his girlfriend is supportive too. My younger son and I want to join him so we can all be together and support each other. It’s not about chasing my son through college—I want to respect his independence, but he truly wants us nearby. The cost of living in Austin has become overwhelming, and I just can’t keep up anymore. Mississippi, especially places like Hattiesburg or Laurel, is much more affordable and will give us a fresh start.

My younger son will also benefit from this move. He’ll get to spend more time with his big brother, and they haven’t lived together since 2018. I want them to be closer. I know they really need to feel like brothers again. I’m reaching out for help because I don’t have the money for moving costs, deposits, or to get us through this transition. As well as bills that are coming, stressing me out like crazy, while I await the determination of my disability. My job is remote, so it does not matter where I am, if I’m ever able to return.

I’m very unwell, so far I’ve been to the ER twice this year and I’ve had another CT Scan, kidney stones along with the lower abdominal surgical adhesions. I am constantly in pain and my memory is horrible because of medication. I’m also emotionally rather frail and cry à lot. This has been exceedingly hard to bear.

My biggest priority is moving, and if I’m able to, I’ll buy a used car once we arrive in Mississippi. The funds raised will help cover these expenses and give us a chance to be together as a family again. It’s hard for me to ask for help, but any support would mean the world to me and my family right now. Thank you for considering helping us during this difficult time.
