Help us memorialize Dr. Donald Gardner
Spende geschützt
Dr. Donald Roger Gardner, born March 23, 1949, passed away on December 5th 2020 after contracting the COVID-19 virus. He was 71 years old. He is survived by his wife Anna, sons Joshua, Jimmy, and Ricky and daughters Hannah and Sophia.
We (the team at Town & Country Veterinary Hospital) would like to ask for help in honoring his memory. We would like to have a cast iron memorial bench placed outside the hospital permanently so that we can sit and share memories of Dr. Gardner or have a place to comfort many of the clients and pets he treated.
We would also like to come together during a celebration of life next summer (COVID permitting) and share memories and stories of a man who was such an active and loved member of the Pleasanton community. This of course would be catered with his favorite food, MEXICAN. Lastly, we would like to honor his memory with having a star named after him.
The team members at Town & Country Vet know how fortunate we are to work at a hospital with a culture that is both nurturing and challenging. Many of us have worked with Dr. Gardner for several years, while others knew him briefly. However, all of us know that the core of the hospital was built on Dr. Gardner’s desire to serve his community and to care for their beloved pets. We all are proud to have worked for him and are honored to be able to carry on his legacy.
We often talk about all the things that made Dr. Gardner, Dr. Gardner. He loved scuba diving and showing off his underwater pictures. He enjoyed a Golden State Warriors win like it was his own and would come in the next day with high fives and cheers. He took pride in being able to shred the mountain top on his skis post hip replacement. He often spoke about his love for fly fishing and the members in his fly fishing club. A fly fisherman was also one of his favorite Halloween costumes. He was an active member in his church and we witnessed how his faith in God got him through, some tough times.
The veterinary nurses’ favorite stories are those that include his big love for little dogs, having to find a way to move appointments along because he knew and loved his clients and would talk FOREVER if we let him, his off the wall humor that made even Cheree become wide-eyed in disbelief, and his years of knowledge in the Veterinary Medical field that helped to care for, treat, and save countless pets lives.
This is the man we want to honor and memorialize. We would like to thank you in advance for your contribution. We would also like you to know, that if we raise more than what is needed, all remaining funds will be donated to
Children’s Hospital Oakland, in honor of the doctors and staff that saved his son, Joshua’s life.
