Hi, my name is Brett Rezewski. I’m a husband, father of three boys, and the full-time caregiver for my wife, Michele.
On June 10, 2017, our lives were forever changed. At just 35 years old, Michele suffered a stroke caused by Moyamoya disease, a rare and progressive condition that restricts blood flow to the brain.
That day left her paralyzed on her entire left side. She lost the ability to walk, and from that moment on, she has needed full-time care for daily activities.
Over the years, Michele has experienced falls when others have tried to learn how to transfer her. Because of those painful experiences, she has become hesitant to let anyone besides me help. While I’m grateful to be the one by her side, it also means I’ve carried this responsibility alone.
We are raising funds for a Hoyer Lift, a specialized piece of medical equipment designed to make transfers safe, consistent, and reliable.
✨ How this will help:
It will keep Michele safe during transfers and prevent the risk of falls.
It will give her peace of mind knowing she can be moved securely.
It will allow family, friends, or caregivers to step in and help with confidence.
It will provide me with much-needed respite, knowing Michele is safe even when others assist.
This lift would be a tremendous blessing to our family. It’s not just about equipment—it’s about giving Michele the dignity, safety, and comfort she deserves, while opening the door for others to come alongside us in this journey.
We are deeply grateful for your support—whether through a donation, a prayer, or sharing this campaign. Every bit helps lighten the load.
P.S. We are also excited to say that we have written a book about our story. It can be found at hopeundeferred.com. There you will find the paperback, Kindle version, and Audible (I narrated and edited the book :) )
