Please help us save our only pony shelter! CLOSED

We are volunteers at 'Spirit of the Herd Pony Sanctuary' in Frodsham.

Thanks to our super generous supporters, we've raised over £1500 for the finances to save our only pony shelter on site!! We're going to use the money to apply for permanent planning permission and public liability insurance. Keep an eye out for updates on our social media channels.

We're home to 25 rescue ponies and horses (as at Feb 2023), and the only equine shelter we have on-site is at risk.

THE SITUATION

In 2021 we constructed a temporary shelter to give our ponies a secure space where they could shelter from the bad weather while we gave them health checks. Since then we've also used the space for income-generating activities and events.

Now we need planning permission to make this a permanent shelter, or we'll have to dismantle it and will lose the only on-site shelter we have for our rescues!

WHY THE SHELTER IS SO IMPORTANT

This is the only roofed shelter we have for our ponies on site. We use it during wet and cold weather for essential health checks like vet appointments, physiotherapy, hoof checks and trims by the farrier, and dental checkups by our equine dentist.

The shelter also provides us with most of our income - which comes from the Wellness Sessions, birthday parties and Pony Pamper Sessions we hold there, enjoyed by children and adults alike.

Many of you will know we use this shelter for our annual Christmas Grotto during the festive season! And for Valentine's Day, and an array of other special days.

And not forgetting the important and regular adult and young volunteer meetings we hold in the shelter, to discuss the running of the sanctuary. We need somewhere large to congregate as we have 50+ passionate volunteers on our books!

HOW YOU CAN HELP US

To make our shelter a permanent feature on our site, we need to find money to pay for planning permission and to refresh our public liability insurance to cover our activities and events for the year. We believe securing our shelter for the future will cost us at least £1490.
