Raising £4,000 for a home defibrillator, essential home adaptations and equipment for our son following his cardiac arrest.

Our world changed when our beautiful son, George, suffered a cardiac arrest. As parents, there is no way to prepare yourself for something so frightening. Watching your child go through such a life-threatening experience is something no family should ever have to face, and it is a moment that stays with you forever.

George has hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM), a serious heart condition that has already had a significant impact on his young life. He has an implanted defibrillator (ICD) to help protect him from dangerous heart rhythms, but despite everything he has already been through, his cardiac arrest has brought home just how precious and fragile life can be.

Sadly, the uncertainty surrounding George's condition is something we have to live with every single day. His consultant has advised us that another cardiac arrest could happen at any time. As parents, hearing those words is heartbreaking. There is no way to describe the fear of knowing that something so serious could happen to your child again, without warning.

On top of this, we are now facing the very real possibility that George may need a heart transplant in the near future. This is something no parent ever imagines having to consider for their child. While we continue to hope for the best and take each day as it comes, the uncertainty about what lies ahead is incredibly difficult for our family.

In the midst of all this, we are trying to focus on the things we can do to help protect George and make life as safe and comfortable as possible for him.

Our home should be the one place where George can feel safe, secure and simply enjoy being a child. That is why we are hoping to raise £4,000 to help us make essential changes to our home and provide equipment to support his needs.

The money raised will go towards:

❤️ A home defibrillator – to provide an additional means of emergency support should George experience another cardiac emergency.

Essential home adaptations – to make our home safer, more accessible and better suited to George's needs, including any necessary changes to his bedroom, bathroom or access around the house.

Other essential equipment – to help us provide the care, comfort and support George needs as he continues to live with his heart condition.

Unfortunately, the cost of these changes is more than we can manage on our own. We are reaching out to our family, friends and the wider community for help in making these essential changes possible.

Our fundraising target of £4,000 would make a real difference to our family. Every donation, no matter how big or small, will bring us one step closer to creating a safer home for George and helping us feel better prepared for the challenges that lie ahead.

We know times are difficult for so many people, and we completely understand that not everyone will be in a position to donate. If you are unable to contribute financially, simply sharing our fundraiser would mean the world to us.

George is our world. He deserves to grow up feeling safe, loved and able to enjoy being a child, despite the challenges his heart condition brings. We cannot take away what has happened, and we cannot know what the future holds, but we can do everything possible to make life safer and more comfortable for him.

As a family, we are taking things one day at a time, holding on to hope and doing everything we can for our beautiful boy. We want to give him the best possible quality of life, whatever the future may bring.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for taking the time to read George's story, for your kindness, and for helping us make our home a safer place for him. Every donation, every share and every bit of support means more to us than words can express.

With love and heartfelt thanks,

George's family ❤️
