I'm Lina Isaza and came to Australia to study a master's degree in UWA (Environmental management) ➡️
On August 10, a devastating earthquake struck Colombia, leaving homes, families and communities deeply affected. Our home was one of them.
We live on the fourth floor of a building in the Cali, one of the most affected cities. Our apartment has suffered significant damage and is currently unsafe to live in. Several walls have separated from the structural columns and are at risk of collapsing outward. The ceiling is giving way, and one of the non-structural walls has already collapsed.
For our safety, we had no choice but to evacuate. We don't yet know the full extent of the structural damage or exactly what will be required, but we will need professional structural assessments, urgent repairs, reconstruction and, eventually, the work necessary to make the apartment habitable again.
We are hoping to raise A$20,000 to help cover:
- Structural assessment and engineering work
- Emergency repairs and reinforcement
- Demolition and removal of unsafe materials
- Repairing the damaged ceiling
- Rebuilding damaged walls
- Restoring essential installations and finishes
Any donation, no matter how small, can bring us one step closer to returning home. If you cannot donate, sharing this fundraiser with your friends, family or colleagues would mean just as much to us.
We are incredibly grateful for every message, every contribution and every person who chooses to stand beside us during this difficult moment.
Thank you for helping us rebuild not just walls, but our sense of safety and home. ❤️
