Our family is navigating life with Limb Girdle Muscular Dystrophy (LGMD), a progressive muscle disorder that causes increasing weakness in my husband's hips, legs, shoulders, and arms. Over time, everyday movements such as standing up, climbing stairs, lifting objects, or playing with our daughter have become more difficult and physically exhausting. After his diagnosis, my husband was discharged from the military. While we have worked with the VA and explored veteran support programs, we've been denied assistance due to how his disability is currently classified in paperwork. We're working with legal support to correct this, but the process takes time we simply do not have as his needs continue to grow.

One of the biggest challenges we face each day is helping my husband move safely throughout our home. Transferring and navigating different levels isn't just tiring—it is often unsafe and carries a risk of injury. What used to be automatic movements now require planning, energy, and often assistance. We are raising money to install a home lift. This would be life-changing for our family, allowing for safer movement between levels, reducing physical strain for both of us, and helping preserve energy, independence, and dignity in daily life. It would also bring a level of safety and peace of mind we do not currently have.

If we are fortunate enough to exceed our fundraiser amount, additional funds will go directly toward other accessibility needs that will further support daily life, such as a transportable power chair, ramp or garage lift, widening doorways, or modifications to a vehicle.
