Latinx diaspora live in-between worlds. In the United States, they are considered minorities highly susceptible to poverty with different cultural norms. However, in Latin American and the Caribbean, they are considered outsiders. This can cause a myriad of issues from lack of self-confidence, low self-esteem, to the unwillingness to speak up on matters that mean the most to them and to the confusion of being labeled as an outsider from both of their worlds.
We noticed a void between the Latinx diaspora in the United States and their counterpart communities in the Caribbean and Latin America. A void that can be filled by connecting these communities through a bridge of education, leadership and civic engagement to empower Latinx youth diaspora, that only Nexus Latinx can provide.
Through the Nexus Latinx cultural immersion experiences, Latinx diaspora can fully engage in the study of their culture. They will grow to become empowered Latinx leaders who will gain confidence, knowledge and a sense of civic engagement to improve their communities.
