Help Two Disabled Queer People Avoid Homelessness
Donation protected
Hello friends and family
My partner and I are leaving a toxic and unsafe living situation. Long story short, the person we are subletting from and living with abuses our pets, verbally abuses us, constantly puts my already poor health at risk, and maliciously threatens to raise our rent as a means of scaring and controlling us. If she is to spontaneously raise the rent, this will result in homelessness. Aside from not wanting to be homeless again for obvious reasons, it is not safe for me to be homeless, due to a deadly allergy to insect stings, as well as a seizure disorder, extreme dissociation, and unpredictable fainting. As well, I am on a wait list for gender affirming surgeries and need to be in a safe, stable, environment by the time I get surgery.
We have found a place to live, we’re set to move in for June. This is great, but we don’t have the time or ability to save last month’s rent on our own, nor do we qualify for a loan or grant. I know $1200CAD is a big goal, but every little bit helps and is greatly appreciated. If our new housing falls through, or we are somehow able to make last month’s rent on our own, we will refund all donations.
