With heavy hearts, we share the devastating news of the passing of Ruben Esparza, who had just turned 59 on September 28th.

On the day before Thanksgiving, our family received an unexpected and heartbreaking call from a homicide detective informing us of his passing. His loss was sudden and completely unforeseen, leaving our family shocked, heartbroken, and unprepared.

Ruben was a kind, generous, and hardworking man who loved to serve others. He had a gentle heart, an easy smile, and a willingness to help anyone who needed it. He was a man who tried every day to become better than he was the day before.

Above all, Ruben loved his family deeply. Being a father to Angelic and a grandfather to Arianna brought him his greatest joy. He cherished any time he had with them—whether it was sharing a meal, making Arianna laugh, or simply being present. He took pride in his role as a dad and grandpa, and he wanted nothing more than to give his family the love and presence he wished he could have given them sooner.

What should have been a joyful time—right after Arianna’s 6th birthday—has now become a season of heartbreak.

At this time, the circumstances surrounding Ruben’s passing remain unclear, and our family is navigating immense grief along with many unanswered questions. In the midst of this pain, we are holding onto our faith, trusting that God is close to the brokenhearted and will carry us through this difficult season.

Ruben did not have life insurance, and as a single mother, Angelic is now facing both the emotional weight of losing her father and the financial responsibility of arranging his services while caring for her daughter.

We are humbly asking for support—of any amount—to help lay Ruben to rest with dignity.
