Help us lay Rebecca to rest

Hello everyone. I’m Desirae. I am Rebecca’s Simonson’s niece.

Since I can remember, Becca and I have had a special relationship. She was undoubtedly, one of my “people” in this life. She was a gem. She was a once in a lifetime kind of woman. Even more important though, is that I can promise you, that I’m just one of many that had a special bond with her. She had a way of making everyone feel so loved, heard, cared for and special. We all lost someone incredible.

COVID has been a wake up call to so many of us in so many different ways. I’m sad to say its what ended her fight this week. To be truthful, Rebecca had quite the fight in life in general. She was a survivor of everything you can imagine. Things that for most of us, are unthinkable to go through. The way she faced them, was something only god can get credit for. She acknowledged them but never ever allowed them to get in her way of being an unstoppable woman, wife, friend, mother, sister, and quite simply a force for good in this world. She has impacted so many people and has always given time and an open ear and passed them words of love, compassion and motivation. She was also a sassy, no bullshit kind of queen, and we all loved her for that too!

Rebecca’s life and legacy deserves to be celebrated, and remembered in a way that so many of us wished we gave her more of while she was here. Time gets away from us all, distance separates us all, but let’s make this a time, that we give her the proper celebration of her goodness and her light.

I’ve, quite frankly, never imagined I would create a go fund me in life. But I don’t want the pressure of finances to get in the way of what this woman deserves as we lay her to rest. I want her family to be able to grieve and feel all that they need to, without all of the outside stresses. I want to create the most beautiful gathering to relish every memory and happiness we’ve all had while she was here. I’m humbly asking for anyone who may have something extra to give, to donate. If you can’t, a prayer would be awesome as well! We are a family rich in love, and every part of a positive contribution is appreciated more than you know.
