Help Us Lay Our Mama, Ruby Sweat, to Rest with Dignity
Donation protected
Family and Friends,
On May 12th, 2025, our beloved mother, Ruby Sweat, was called home to be with the Lord. She passed peacefully in her sleep, just like she lived—gracefully, quietly, and on her own terms.
Mama was the kind of woman who didn’t need to raise her voice to be heard. She led with love, gave with her whole heart, and stood ten toes down for her family through thick and thin. She was the rock, the prayer warrior, and the first call when life got heavy.
Ruby was the devoted widow of Staff Sergeant Matthew Sweat Sr., a proud World War II Army veteran who passed 11 years ago. Military benefits will thankfully cover part of the burial, including the opening and closing of the plot. But we’ve come to realize there’s still a heavy load left to carry—and we need help to see her homegoing done the right way.
Despite paying faithfully into a life insurance policy for over 30 years, Mama was sold what turned out to be a junk policy that’s left us with little to nothing. Right now, there are no funds available for funeral preparations, transportation, or a casket.
We don’t need anything fancy—Mama wasn’t about all that. But she deserves dignity, she deserves peace, and she deserves to be celebrated the way she lived: with grace, love, and strength.
Mama leaves behind her four children, each of us carrying pieces of her in the way we move, speak, and love. As her youngest son, I, Matthew Sweat Jr., am doing my best to hold it together and do right by her. But I can’t do it alone.
I’m asking, from the bottom of my heart, if you can give anything at all to help us lay Ruby Sweat to rest. Every dollar brings us closer to giving her the farewell she deserves. And if you can’t give, please share. Pray. Send love.
Thank you for loving our Mama.
With love and gratitude,
Matthew Sweat Jr.
