Dear friends, family, and compassionate supporters,
It is with broken hearts that we share the passing of our beloved father, a hardworking, honest man who gave everything to build a better future for his family. He fought a long, courageous battle with T-cell leukemia, and despite his pain, he never stopped showing up for his loved ones. He remained our provider, our protector, and our guide until his very last breath.
He came to the U.S. a year after my birth and worked his way up to becoming a nurse. In order to give us the best opportunities, he toiled endlessly and made the difficult decision to immigrate. Seven years later, he brought over his wife and two youngest children. Two years after that, his two middle children joined. Through every struggle and sacrifice, he remained committed to keeping our family together and lifting us all up. Though he had been battling T-cell leukemia—and won—this blindsiding tragedy has now left my mother, his wife of 47 years, six children, and several grandchildren without his warmth, strength, and care.
Tragically, his passing was not only the result of his illness—but also a direct consequence of medical malpractice and systemic corruption that failed him when he needed help the most. What was supposed to be care turned into carelessness. And now, our family is left grieving not just a life lost, but a man robbed of the peace and dignity he deserved in his final moments.
Our father’s final wish was to be laid to rest in his homeland, Cameroon. We want to honor that wish. But with the emotional weight of our loss comes an overwhelming financial burden. The cost of international transport, burial arrangements, and ceremonies in Cameroon is more than we can handle on our own.
Our mother, a dedicated home health aide nurse, is now left to carry this weight while still processing the loss of her life partner. My siblings and I, a radiology student, are still struggling to find stability in the midst of this grief.
We are humbly asking for your help. Any contribution, no matter the size, will go directly toward:
- The costs of travel for Pierre’s wife and children
- Funeral and burial expenses prior to traveling
- Funeral and burial expenses in Cameroon
- Supporting our mother in the short term as she adjusts to this devastating new reality
Our father gave everything so his children could grow up with opportunity and dignity. Now, we want to give that back to him in the way we say goodbye.
Thank you for your love, support, and generosity in this difficult time. Please keep our family in your prayers and share this fundraiser with others who may be able to help.
With love and gratitude,
