In Loving Memory of Lucy Arzate Sligar

It is with heavy hearts, but deep faith, that we share the passing of our beloved Lucy Arzate Sligar, who went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at the age of 58.
Lucy was born on October 5, 1967, to Jovita and Raphael Arzate, the youngest of 12 children. From the very beginning, her life was a blessing, and she carried that same love and light into everyone around her.
Lucy was a devoted wife to her husband, Gary Sligar, for 32 beautiful years. She was a proud and loving mother to Amanda, Sarah, and Justin, and a deeply cherished grandmother to Michael Jr., Amelia, Mo, Dallas, and Dawson.
Her family was her purpose. Her love was her legacy.
Lucy shared a special bond with her sisters, and some of her happiest moments were spent traveling with them — creating memories filled with laughter and love that will be cherished forever.
She was diagnosed with an auto immune liver disease in 2020. She has been dealing with countless hospital visits, Medications, and pain for the past 6 years. Even with liver failure, Lucy devoted herself to working for her son-in-law’s business, where she gave her heart, loyalty, and dedication every single day.
Lucy had a heart that reflected Christ, she gave without hesitation, loved without condition, and always showed up for others.
While our hearts are broken here on earth, we take comfort in knowing that Lucy is now at peace in the presence of God, free from pain and surrounded by eternal love.
Even in our grief, we hold onto the promise that this is not goodbye forever… but “see you again.”
As our family mourns this unimaginable loss, we are also facing the unexpected financial burden of funeral expenses. We are humbly asking for any support to help us honor Lucy’s life and give her the beautiful farewell she deserves!
If you feel led to give, we are deeply grateful.
From Michael Jr.:
“Grandma, I love you. Go be with God now. I wish I could hug you one more time and take me to Target for one toy, two toys, maybe three toys?! but I’ll see you again someday.”
Lucy’s love doesn’t end here it lives on in every life she touched.

With love and faith,
The Arzate & Sligar Family
