Earlier this evening, our family received the devastating news that our beloved father, grandfather, nephew, cousin, and friend, Lawrence Gaye, was found dead.

While the details surrounding his death are still unclear, we are tasked with making preparations to come together to celebrate his life and lay him to rest.

Sadly, Lawrence was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Jean Edusei; sister, Erica Brown; and brother, Jessie James (Junior) Rainey-Brown.

He leaves behind his children and grandchildren and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins who are overcome with grief and sadness as they struggle to cope with the loss of their loved one.

Lawrence was an amazing father and good friend to those who had the opportunity to share time and space with him. He will be missed by all who love, and are now mourning him. We take solace in knowing that he’s at peace in paradise with his mother, grandparents and siblings.

As a final act of love, those who leaves behind here on earth want to bury him with his mother.
