Help Us Lay Laurie Wood to Rest by Helping with Funeral Cost
Donation protected
Laurie (Mitchell) Wood, hummingbird and butterfly, prophetess, lover of Jesus and His word, searcher of the Scriptures, adorable, funny, truth seeker, anointed singer and writer, loyal, loving wife, mother, daughter, sister. You are missed beyond description, and you are forever in our hearts and memories. You passed from Andy, your loving husbands’ arms into the arms of Jesus on January 28, 2025 at about 1:30 pm after 8 months battling brain cancer.
But the expenses of dying, casket, funeral home expenses, burial services are way more than the family can afford. So we come to you to ask for help in letting Laurie go to her earthly resting place with dignity. Her 92 year old mother, Monica gave up what little she had in savings to help pay for funeral costs (which she needed to pay for her own assisted living expenses.) Our intent is to reimburse Monica which is what Laurie would want. Please help us do that.
We are Pastors Pete & Jo Fiske of www.churchatprison.com and we loved Laurie without measure. We are grieving but unto hope and thankful that our sister Laurie is finally gazing into the eyes of Jesus in person, healed, healthy, gloriously happy and thinking about all the parties you are planning for all of us who will follow you to your/our real home – heaven.
We met Laurie when she was a single mom working at a prestigious insurance agency raising her three children. We clicked and she became interested in The Church at Prison and came in as a volunteer to minister to both the men and women showing her love for the Lord in the way she loved them. Pastor Pete at times when struggling through a situation would call Laurie and say Hey Laurie, I need a word, do you have a word for me and she would reply, funny you ask, last night I had this dream about you and... it was always an on time message from God! Then we introduced her to Andrew Wood and wow, bam, wham it was love at first sight. They went through marriage counseling with Pastor Bob Robert Cargill and who finally performed their wedding at Andy's home in Rutland. It's been an immense spiritual journey these last 8 months or so, texting daily, sharing our hearts. Laurie was blessed to have the very best care possible from her hubby, visits from Tucker (flying up from Texas), Heather and Monica and care from the medical community (hospice team nurses, doctors at UVM Oncology). We miss you so!
Nevertheless, Lord your will be done!
Please join the family on February 12th at A W Rich Funeral Home in Essex Junction, VT from 6-7pm to comfort them. An internment and graveside service will take place May 16th across the street at The Village Cemetery.
