Please help us lay our dear Jada to rest.

Jada was naturally soft-spoken, kind and gentle. But she was also brave-- and a fierce protector. She was always ready to defend someone who was being taken advantage of or treated unfairly. It was a beautiful sight to see the way she cared about all living things. The way she would carry bugs outside into the yard instead of killing them, the way she would move a worm from the sidewalk back to the grass where it was safe. This child amazed us with the pureness of her spirit.
When she made up her mind to do something, there was nothing and no one who could stop her. Jada had her entire life ahead of her. She had plans for the good that she wanted to do while she was on this earth. She had dreams that she will never get to see come true. Jada could not understand the brutality and meanness she saw. It made her sad. It made her want to do something to make things better. The world has lost a truly compassionate, genuinely kind human being. It doesnt make sense and it isnt fair.
On Saturday 2/24/24 Jada went into cardiac arrest and stopped breathing. A good samaritan on the scene did their best to perform cpr until medics arrived. She spent five days in the MICU at University of Maryland in Baltimore. She was surrounded by wave after wave of family members and dear friends who wept, prayed over her, sang to her, told her stories, held her hands, kissed her face, advocated for her care. She was deeply loved. Unquestionably, our baby girl was loved.
Jada's mother, Gwen, was diagnosed with stage four lung and colon cancer in 2019. After years of chemotherapy which left her unable to work, Gwen eventually lost the life insurance coverage she had for herself and her children. Our family never thought we would be in this position, trying to scrape together money to give our baby a proper burial. We thank everyone for their prayers and well wishes during this extremely difficult time.
