On May 19, 2025, our family experienced an unimaginable loss. Alysia Chedister, my great-niece, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly at just 31 years old.
Alysia was a kind, gentle soul—bright, loving, and deeply empathetic. She earned a degree in social work because she wanted to help others, but her own struggles with autism and debilitating social anxiety made it difficult to step fully into the world. She was a quiet presence, but her love for others—especially animals—ran deep. Her cats were her constant companions, and she cherished them with all her heart.
She felt everything intensely. A single word could break her heart, yet she never stopped caring. She was smart, creative, and full of quiet strength. Though her life wasn’t always easy, her compassion for others never dimmed.
Her parents are devastated. Her mother, who has advanced Parkinson’s disease, can no longer walk or speak clearly. Her father, a former LPN who is now disabled due to Crohn’s disease, is doing all he can to keep things together. They are grieving, overwhelmed, and not in a financial position to provide the farewell Alysia deserves.
The family is meeting with the funeral home on Thursday to make arrangements. A 50% deposit will be required at that time, so early donations are especially appreciated. Once final details are known, we will share them here.
I (Connie Lindley, her great aunt) will be managing the funds to ensure they are used solely for funeral and burial expenses. I will work directly with the funeral provider and provide updates as needed to honor the trust of everyone who donates.
We are asking, with humble hearts, for any support you can give—whether through a donation or by sharing this campaign. Every dollar helps us honor Alysia’s life with the care and dignity she deserves.
With love and gratitude,
Connie Lindley & the Family of Alysia Chedister
