My name is Josh, but by night I go by my drag persona Calamity James.

I’ve been studying singing since I was 6 years old. I studied a Bachelor of Music (Music Theatre) at the Australian Institute of Music, and toured professionally in 2012 and 2013 in the Australian production of Naked Boys Singing! Afterwards, I stepped away from the arts and moved into the corporate world. But nothing could keep me away from performing. In 2016 I reintroduced myself to the arts in the Sydney Burlesque scene, and since have enjoyed working on multiple stages across NSW, ACT and VIC as both an artist and MC.

As a child, I enjoyed having Queen music on in our house very often. Without realizing, Freddie and the Band became a massive inspiration for me, and my art. Now, as a 30 year old queer person, it holds a very special place in my heart, and I’ve connected deeply with the bands music, and Freddie’s expression of pride, bravery and free love. Most importantly, they were my first introduction to HIV/AIDS and the importance of fighting to rid the world of the virus.

Here is where you come in!

As an artist, we always look to make an impact and tell a story. To entertain. For me, I feel for the first time in my life, ready to conquer the music of Queen and pay homage to one the worlds greatest rock bands.

So I created:

Queen! A Very Gay Tribute Show!

The show (currently in creative production), is going to be a theatrical rock show, combining state of the art lighting, with live singing drag, and supported by 4 highly sought after rock musicians and 4 backing vocalists to bring the music of the biggest rock band back to Sydney, with a high-heeled twist.

I started this GoFundMe to help get this show mounted and started, so we can get it staged and working and hopefully touring!

The funds will be broken down between:

Costuming, Wigs and Props

Technical Equipment we don’t have

anything over our goal (here’s hoping) will go back into the pool for marketing .
