Help Us Launch “It’s Hoodie Time!”

Hi, I’m Kristin Barnes, founder and CEO of Toward Sacredness, a company that serves the Black Creative community.

In 2020 I trademarked the name and tried to launch Toward Sacredness. But what I envisioned for the company was so big, I couldn’t figure out where to begin. I looked for a way to start small and grow organically and, through prayer, was guided to “It’s Hoodie Time”, a simpler, entertaining YouTube show that would follow the development of Toward Sacredness using interviews, reenactments and comedic skits.

Even with the fun, simpler format, I was exhausted, doing all the writing, filming, directing, editing and promoting myself. I started looking for help, and now I have an amazing team of business and creative people helping me steer the setting up of Toward Sacredness and the production of the “It’s Hoodie Time” episodes.

Toward Sacredness has been quietly developing in the background, the many branches I envisioned to support Black Creatives growing organically as planned. I also formed my own personal media company, Huffy Brow, that will partner with the larger Toward Sacredness structure to oversee the show, “It’s Hoodie Time.” If you’ve seen my first few episodes of “It’s Hoodie Time,” you’ve had an introduction to the playful style, if not yet the plan behind it.

Now that much of the help and structures are in place for this big vision I feel called to, I’m very pleased to announce that we are in production for the first full season of “It’s Hoodie Time.” We plan to launch the first episodes on the “It’s Hoodie Time” YouTube channel in November.

To do this, my talented, dedicated community of Black Creatives needs your help. We’re set to film all this weekend and need funding to accomplish it, hence this GoFundMe appeal.

I’ve already taken care of most of the equipment, stage sets and props, but even a simple show such as this is costly.

Directors, writers, set designers, photographers, editors and other talent need at least small stipends; we need a few more props and simple equipment for this weekend’s filming and for the ones following quickly behind it.

Operational costs such as supplies, app subscriptions, travel needs, and, not least, food during filming must also be handled.

The goal is to raise $30K for the season but we only need $3K for this weekend’s shoot and another $2K by the end of the following week. Your contribution of $20, $30 or $50 may not seem like much, but with enough contributors, it will add up.

If you aren’t able to contribute financially at this time, perhaps there are other ways you can support. Sharing this campaign with friends, offering needed audio and video equipment or valuable skill sets (such as editing or administrative support) as needed.

Above all, please pray for our success - we need all the help we can get from the divine realms. This project was born out of years of prayer during great hardship and struggle for me. It’s my way to give back to those who have helped me make it through and to pay it forward.

Whatever you can do will give us some much-needed sun to carry us through this week’s project, so please, contribute today.

From the innnermost part of my heart, I thank you.

See you soon on “It’s Hoodie Time”
