We have a wonderful arts and music scene in the Las Cruces/El Paso/Juarez area, which enriches all of our lives. From the Las Cruces Symphony Orchestra, the El Paso Symphony Orchestra, the Juarez Symphony, La Catrina Quartet, El Paso Pro Musica, and the various choirs and bands in the area, there is so much music surrounding us. However, there is something missing from the equation, and this is a chamber orchestra! Without a chamber orchestra, there are whole eras which are left out of the music scene, such as Baroque and Early Classical music. We created the Camerata Del Sol in order to play this role. We are a 15 piece, conductorless orchestra with musicians primarily from Las Cruces, El Paso and Ciudad Juarez. We exist to play the music which has not been given a voice in our area. This includes Baroque and classical music, but we also hope to explore new works by composers in the region.
For our first concert, we'll be honoring a great romantic tradition of string orchestra music. Our program is:
Sibelius Romance in C major, Joseph Suk Serenade and
Haydn Violin Concerto in C.
These funds will be used to pay for the travel expenses of a few members, as well as our first featured soloist, violinist Odin Rathman. All proceeds will go to Camerata Del Sol.
We are creating this orchestra in order to serve the wonderful communities we are a part of, but we'll need your support to get started. We are so grateful for your donation and we cannot wait to breathe life into this project. Thank you!
