Safety for Zi’Karri & Zi’Ya
Hi, my name is GiaVaughna, and I’m a single mother of four beautiful children. Two of them—my 5-year-old son Zi’Karri and my 3-year-old daughter Zi’Ya—are autistic and struggle with elopement, a condition that causes them to run off unexpectedly without understanding danger.
On Tuesday, May 13th, our lives were shaken. Zi’Karri eloped from our home between 5 and 6 a.m., shortly after I left for work. I had no idea he was gone until three hours later, when I was notified that he had been found by the police and taken to the station.
I had to pick up my son from the police station after they found him wandering alone—before I even knew he was missing. That moment crushed me. The fear, guilt, and helplessness of that experience are impossible to describe.
That’s why I’m here—asking for help to protect my children before something worse happens.
Safety is my number one priority. Zi’Ya is now beginning to show the same signs of elopement, and I don’t have any outside support to help me keep constant watch.
At the same time, I’m doing my best to care for:
• My 17-year-old daughter, who is preparing for college
• My 11-year-old son, who needs support for school and extracurriculars
• And myself—I have narcolepsy, a neurological disorder that causes sudden sleep attacks and makes it incredibly difficult to remain constantly alert
Over the years, I’ve lost multiple jobs because I’ve had to prioritize my children’s care and safety. It’s not because I don’t want to work—I do—but safety must come first.
Your support will help us with:
1. Safety equipment – door alarms, window locks, and GPS trackers
2. Housing stability – to keep our current home and prevent disruption
3. Transportation – for school, therapy, and appointments
4. Basic and emergency needs – groceries, supplies, and unexpected expenses
I love my children with everything I have. I’m doing my best—but I need help.
If you can donate, thank you. If not, please consider sharing this story. Every bit helps us move toward safety, stability, and peace.
With love and gratitude,
