Help All About The Freeze Bounce Back
In 2023, we launched All About The Freeze from our home in West Deptford, NJ. We were looking for a small business to start and came across the unique process of freeze drying candy.
I had been a store manager for a chocolate shop, and it was one of my favorite jobs. Unfortunately that store closed down, and on the very same day my mom passed away. In that moment I knew I wanted a different career path and was on the hunt for something that I felt passionate about. When I saw the freeze drying process I was instantly intrigued. I did a search in my area and saw that it was a relatively untapped market. I convinced my husband that we should make the investment (because I couldn't just stroll into the house with a $3,000 machine saying I found it on the side of the road ) and All About The Freeze was born.
Operating under NJ Cottage Law, we've transformed classic treats into delightful, crunchy confections that have been exciting to watch people enjoy.
Our journey has been nothing short of amazing. From setting up at multiple local markets, to being accepted so welcomingly by an amazing group of small business vendors, the support we've received has been overwhelming. It's definitely a different world than working in traditional retail. We have had fun collaborating with fellow small businesses, participating in local events to spread the sweetness, and donating baskets to many fundraisers. We have our regular customers who we love see following us around to the different places we pop up at, and seeing new people walking by who have never heard of what we have to offer.
However, yesterday we were hit with an unexpected hurdle as our busy market season is about to kick off. Our essential freeze dryer has broken down, halting our production and putting our small business at risk. As a home based operation, our freeze dryer is the most important part of our creations, and replacing it comes with a significant cost. The year has been off to a slow start, and our market season officially kicks off next week. We were excited to get back into the swing of things in the time of year where our business flourishes. I spent the last two days taking apart the machine, fixing what I thought was a leak, only to learn that a major component of the machine has broken and the machine needs to be sent in for service, which typically takes quite a few weeks, and in some cases, months to receive back.
We're reaching out to our community for support to help us get back in business. Your contributions will go directly towards acquiring a new freeze dryer, allowing us to resume making the treats you love while we wait for our original machine to make its way back to us.
Every donation, no matter the size, brings us one step closer to our goal. If you're unable to contribute financially, which we completely understand, sharing our campaign with friends and family would mean the world to us. I really struggled with putting this out there like this, and this was a hard post to make, but my options at this time are pretty limited and I'm giving this a try.
Thank you for being a part of our journey and for helping us keep All About The Freeze alive! Thank you for taking the time to read our story.
