Please help us save Percy, the kitten!

The Bullet Points:
  • Emaciated, abandoned kitten found and weighs in at 1 lb, 7 oz
  • Chlamydial infection, Upper respiratory infection, ulcers & ticks
  • $576.71 already spent on vet bills & food
  • $500 estimated cost of neuter/microchip/final vaccines next week
  • $150 projected food cost to get Percy back to a healthy weight
  • Asking total of $1,225 to help care for Percy!

The Details:
My sibling Sarah has always been a cat whisperer - so when a sick, emaciated 1 pound 7 oz kitten appeared abandoned in the driveway, Sarah took him in without a second thought and named him Percival (a.k.a. Percy). All his vet bills have been going on a credit card since the store Sarah works at is closing. I'm making this GoFundMe to help Sarah pay off the costs of helping this poor, sick little kitten!

Sarah shared the story of finding Percy with me:
"
I found Percy in my driveway on August 15. He was very small, and clearly very ill. He was coated in burrs, had a HUGE tick in his tail, his eyes were full of goop, and his nose had so much mucus on and in it that he could barely breathe. He tried to scuttle away, but the rock he went to hide under had another rock under it and he did not get very far.

After I caught him, I took him inside and cleaned his face, and he very quickly was tucking himself into my chest and purring. I wrapped him in a blanket to help keep him warm, because he was skin and bones. I don't know exactly what happened to him - I live too far off the road for him to have been dumped, so I suspect his mama may have left him because he was sick and small, or something happened to her.

Percy was very sick with what the vet believes to have been a chlamydial infection. He had an ulcer under his tongue and symptoms of an upper respiratory infection. He was obviously abandoned and had been for a while, and wouldn't have made it for much longer without treatment. He was prescribed Clavamox for the infection, and Terramycin for his eyes. Both have worked very well, and his eyes are clear, and he is no longer congested and coughing.
"

So far, Sarah has spent $576.71 helping Percy: $424.93 on vet bills and $151.78 on food. $238.18 of the vet bills was for the same day clinic I took him too, which covered the exam, FIV/FeLV tests, and the antibiotics for his chlamydial and eye infections. The rest was to get him established at Sarah's normal vet.

Soon, Percy will have to be neutered, microchipped, and receive a few more vaccines. Sarah's vet has estimated these future costs will be another $500. As he gets back to a healthy weight, Percy's food costs have also been higher than expected at about $150/month. So, we are asking for a total of $1,225 to offset the costs of saving Percy's life. Any money raised beyond that goal will buy Percy extra food in the coming months.

Please help us keep Percy healthy, happy, and adorable! He is already doing so much better since Sarah gave him a new start in life. Thank you for helping us save this kitten!
