Hello, my name is Frances, and I am a 16-year-old girl writing this on behalf of my family — my parents, my five siblings, and our beloved animals. We are a family of eight with big hearts, big dreams, and, right now, a very big need.
This is the first time in my life I’ve ever asked strangers for help. I’m writing this without my dad knowing, because I want to surprise my parents with support and relief. They have always been the kind of people who help others first, even when we didn’t have much. Now I’m trying to do the same for them.
Losing Our Home Once… and Almost Again
In 2023, we lost the home we had rented for 10 years. Even though rent was always paid, late fees during COVID became too much for my mom to keep up with while my dad was the only one working. No matter how hard she tried to make arrangements, we still got evicted.
We spent nearly two years homeless, living wherever we could, praying for a stable place to call home. Then in May of this year, our prayers were answered. We finally got a house again. We cried happy tears, believing this was our fresh start — stability, safety, and a door to a better future. But two months later, in July, everything changed again.
A Job Lost and a Vehicle Taken
My dad lost his job unexpectedly. Since then, he has been working every single day DoorDashing to provide for us. I sometimes go with him to help, and let me tell you that job is not easy. What people don’t always realize is that delivery drivers pay for their own gas. Most of the money he makes goes straight back into the tank just so he can keep going.
Even though he works endlessly and is constantly applying for new jobs, the bills have stacked up faster than we can catch them. We fell behind… and then our only car was repossessed. It’s like watching the ground disappear beneath your feet.
A family friend has been kind enough to lend us a vehicle here and there, but we can’t rely on that every day. Without a car, my dad can’t even work the one job he has left.
When It Rains, It Pours
As if losing a job and our only vehicle weren’t enough, my mom was hoping to sell a mobile home she inherited from her father to save us from this crisis. That money could have helped us catch up on rent and bills.
But recently, a major pipe burst and flooded the kitchen, dining room, part of the living room, and laundry area. Now it can’t be sold until the repairs are done — repairs we definitely can’t afford right now. I don’t know how much more we can handle. We are fighting so hard, but time is running out.
A Family Full of Love
Our house is always full of noise, laughter, games, and the chaos that comes with being one of six kids.
- Mary — 18, the oldest and the calm in the storm
- Me — 16
- Trin — 13, my best friend and partner in adventure
- Ezra — 12, always making us laugh
- Lily — 4, our tiny princess
- James David — 3, the baby of the family and everyone’s favorite
And of course, our dogs and cats, because we’ve always had a soft spot for animals. I grew up trying to rescue every stray I could catch, even when my parents had to tell me no. We may not have much right now, but we have love and that has kept us going… until now.
Our Fear: Becoming Homeless Again
We were given a notice: if we can’t catch up on rent quickly, we will lose our home again.
This time, we don’t have anywhere to go. Nowhere for my younger siblings. Nowhere for our animals, who are like family to us. If we lose this home, we don’t just lose a roof — we lose security, belongings, and the life we are finally rebuilding.
I’m scared. I see my parents holding back fear every day so that the little ones don’t notice. I want to help carry some of that burden.
What We Need & How You Can Help
We are trying to raise $30,000 total to:
- Catch up on rent and avoid eviction
- Cover bills so we don’t fall further behind
- Pay ahead for a few months while my parents secure stable jobs
- Repair the mobile home so it can be sold
But our most urgent need right now is $10,000 as soon as possible to prevent us from losing our home. Any donation, no matter the amount, helps more than you can imagine. Sharing this campaign means the world to us too.
From Our Hearts, Thank You
My parents have never liked asking for help. When they could, they were always the ones helping other families in need, especially around Christmas. They taught us kindness, generosity, and faith.
So now, I’m asking for help in the way they always helped others, with love and hope. Thank you for reading our story. Thank you for caring. And thank you for giving my family a chance to stay together under one roof.
God Bless You
