My husband and I have been facing unimaginable challenges since May. He has been in and out of the hospital, and recently became paralyzed. Doctors have told us he will likely have nerve pain for the rest of his life, and he is unable to walk or bear weight. Even if we could afford the aggressive inpatient physical therapy recommended, he may never walk unassisted again. We are now at zero income, and I spend 7-8 hours each day with him at the hospital. He has emergency Medicaid, but I am uninsured. I'm trying to stay strong for him, but the reality is overwhelming. I can't afford rent, utilities, medications, or basic needs for myself, our two dogs, and two cats. I'm hoping Medicaid will help him get into a proper inpatient physical therapy program, but I don't know what to do to keep a roof over our heads. I'm almost 49 years old and have no career skills, and even if I did, my husband needs me with him at the hospital. I am able to stay strong for him, but inside, I am drowning.

I've reached out to food pantries and pet food resources, but the possibility of homelessness and losing everything we own is very real.
