Help Us Keep Our Doors Open for the Animals of Allen County!
The Ohio SPCA & Humane Society Adoption Center is facing a very serious financial crisis.
We do not want to close. We want to continue being here for the homeless, abandoned, neglected, injured, and surrendered animals who depend on us every single day. But without significant financial support, the future of our Adoption Center is uncertain.
The cost of operating an animal shelter has increased dramatically. Veterinary care, medications, food, utilities, facility maintenance, cleaning supplies, staffing, and the everyday costs of caring for hundreds of animals add up quickly. At the same time, donations have declined as families and businesses throughout our community face financial challenges of their own.
We have worked to reduce expenses, seek business support, hold fundraisers, recruit volunteers, and find new ways to generate funding. We continue to explore every option available to us, but we have reached a point where we desperately need our community’s help.
Donations made through this campaign will directly support the Ohio SPCA & Humane Society Adoption Center and the animals and families we serve in Allen County.
Our work goes far beyond adoptions.
We provide and support TNR efforts to help control community cat populations humanely. We have helped families in Allen County with spay and neuter assistance when cat populations in their homes became overwhelming, helping prevent even more unwanted litters and animals entering shelters.
Through our pet food assistance program, we help families struggling to afford food for their animals, so they do not have to choose between feeding themselves and feeding their pets.
We also provide temporary emergency boarding at no cost for people experiencing homelessness or other crises when they need a safe place for their pets while they work toward stability or temporary housing.
Our low-cost and, in some circumstances, no-cost euthanasia program has helped many families who were facing the heartbreaking reality of a suffering pet but did not have the financial means to afford end-of-life care.
We provide adoptions, medical treatment, rehabilitation, and care for sick and injured animals, including animals who arrive in critical condition with nowhere else to go.
We provide animal cruelty response and investigations throughout Allen County, helping animals suffering from neglect, abuse, abandonment, and unsafe living conditions.
We also operate cat and dog socialization programs for animals who need additional time, patience, confidence-building, and individualized work before they are ready for adoption.
And every day, our staff and volunteers care for the animals already living inside our facility while continuing to help the community outside our doors.
Funds raised through this campaign will help cover expenses including:
• Veterinary and emergency medical care
• Food and daily animal care
• Medications and medical supplies
• Utilities and facility expenses
• Cleaning and sanitation supplies
• Building maintenance and general shelter operations
• Community assistance and lifesaving animal welfare programs
For years, this Adoption Center has provided a safe place for animals with nowhere else to go and a resource for families who may have nowhere else to turn.
Behind every number is an individual animal. Behind many of those animals is also a family who needed help.
We are asking Allen County and everyone who believes in our mission to help us fight for the future of this shelter.
If you can donate, please do. No amount is too small.
If you cannot donate, please share this fundraiser.
If you own or work with a business that may be willing to help, please reach out.
If you can assist with fundraising, events, community outreach, or volunteering, we need you too.
We have heard many wonderful ideas from people who want to see this shelter succeed. Right now, we need people willing to help turn those ideas into action.
This is not about negativity, blame, or disagreements from the past. This is about what happens next.
The animals currently sleeping safely inside this shelter do not know anything about budgets or financial hardship. They simply know that they are fed, cared for, treated when they are sick, protected when they have been harmed, and given another chance.
Families who come to us during some of the hardest moments of their lives are counting on these programs too.
Please help us keep the Ohio SPCA & Humane Society Adoption Center open and serving the animals and families of Allen County.
Every donation. Every share. Every volunteer. Every connection matters.
Thank you for standing with us and with the animals who need us.
