We are not on trial, but our farm animals' lives are. Despite our farm being located on Open Rural property for several years, there are changes coming to the area, with more development and more residents. Don't get me wrong, we don't mind, but where we do mind is where they can take our farm animals because they don't want to live next to farm animals.

The entire region is changing. If we can't keep our animals, many will be killed to be eaten (we've already had several people itching to have our animals for that purpose). One of those is George, our potbelly pig, which we adopted from a rescue. He's just starting to trust people after years. We even contacted the rescue to see if they could take him and his friend Peppa back for protection, but they are too full.

Also, for free we do egg hatching programs in local Elementary and Preschools, in which we provide the incubator and eggs, allow the kids to actually place the eggs in the incubator and start up the incubator. Then they get to candle them every week to see the changes inside, witness the hatch and most importantly, enjoy the chicks in their classroom. Every year this is a highlight for kids, teachers, administrators and parents.

We have hired two lawyers to help fight back, but we are requesting additional help to save our animals on our farm to help pay for that fight as we can't do it alone. We are little compared to who we are up against (the county). If we win it will also give a fighting chance for other small Hobby Farms also located on our same street and in our same community who can't afford much either. So you are not just saving our farm animals on our land, but others as well.
