For the last 4 years, Homeschool Academy has been a lifeline for families who have found themselves on the homeschooling journey some by choice, but more often by necessity.

We support accidental homeschoolers... families who never thought they would homeschool but were left with no other option. We walk alongside parents whose children have endured so much:

• School refusal brought on by overwhelming anxiety.

• Vulnerable children who have been bullied, sometimes relentlessly, and worse.

• Neurodiverse children who simply don’t fit into the school box but thrive when given freedom, understanding, and tailored support.

We are not a school. We are a tutoring organisation designed specifically to help these families succeed and to give their children a chance to rediscover joy in learning and confidence in themselves.

But today, our very existence is under threat.

The Victorian Registration and Qualifications Authority (VRQA) has targeted us unfairly. Despite our clear role as a tutoring provider, they have accused us of being an illegal school and have pressured families to leave our programs. They have even recommended alternative providers, actively working to pull families away from us.

This has already caused us to lose more than half of our families. The VRQA has endless government funding to fight us, while we are a small organisation standing up for what’s right. I am a mum who needed this exact support! It feels like David versus Goliath. And yet, like David, we believe this battle is worth fighting, because at the heart of it are children and families who deserve better.

Why This Fight Matters

If Homeschool Academy is forced to close, countless families will lose the safe place they rely on. Vulnerable children will once again be left without support. Parents who have finally found help and community will be abandoned. And the homeschooling community will lose a vital resource that gives families the freedom to choose the path that works best for their children.
