CRISIS: Urgent Help Needed to Keep Four Young Children in Their Home

The most urgent concern is housing. Rent is past due, and without immediate help, these children are at serious risk of losing their home.

In October 2025, Gustavo was unjustly detained while at work, despite being legally present in the United States, authorized to work, and having no active order of deportation.

He was transferred to a detention facility in Michigan, suddenly removing the family’s only source of income. His wife remains in Texas, now caring alone for their four young children: six year old twins, a four year old, and a two year old.

Since Gustavo’s detention, all income stopped while essential expenses continued. The family quickly fell behind on bills, and their car was repossessed. The past due balance needed to recover the vehicle is approximately $2,000. Without transportation, even basic daily needs such as grocery shopping, medical appointments, and caring for four small children have become extremely difficult.

The children’s mother has contacted 211 and multiple local agencies seeking emergency assistance, but no immediate help has been available. She is doing everything possible to keep her family stable, but the sudden financial crisis caused by this detention has created a gap that is simply too large to manage alone.

This fundraiser is intended to help cover essential needs, including rent to prevent the family from losing their home, food, diapers, basic household necessities, and transportation related costs, including the possibility of recovering the family’s car.

Above all, this fundraiser is about maintaining stability and ensuring that four young children can remain safely in their home during an unexpected and deeply disruptive crisis.
