From 2000 to 2024, the Woodvale Secondary College Football (Soccer) Program gave us more than just wins - it gave us friendships, unforgettable memories, and a sense of pride we carried far beyond the school gates.
With the recent end of the program, many of us (past players and proud alumni) were hit with a wave of sadness. But rather than dwell on what’s lost, we want to celebrate what was so special.
This program was a source of pride for our school and community, producing championship-winning teams and nurturing talented players, some of whom have gone on to represent Australia in the Matildas and Socceroos. The program’s legacy is one of dedication, teamwork, and excellence, and we believe it deserves to be recognized. So we’re raising funds to create a Football Honours Board, a lasting tribute to the incredible achievements of the program.
This isn’t just about trophies — it’s about the journey we all took together. The bus rides to Geraldton. The rain-soaked after-school matches. The KL and China tournaments that felt like international dreams.
This initiative is completely run by past students, with the heartfelt blessing of Mr Tony Ratcliffe and Mr Aric Forman — two legends who helped shape our football journey. This fundraiser is in no way associated with the school, but driven by alumni who would love preserve the legacy of something that meant so much.
The quote we have received for the board is $6,000 - this is our fundraising goal, and all money raised will go directly to Wangara Trophies, who will help us design and create the Honours Board — a physical tribute to be proudly displayed in the Gym Hall at Woodvale SC, to ensure the program and it’s achievements are always remembered.
If this program shaped your high school years…
Helped you cultivate your love and skill for the world game…
If it gave you your best mates…
If it taught you teamwork, resilience, or just gave you a reason to look forward going to school…
We’re asking for your help.
Let’s honour the legacy together — not just for us, but for every player who wore the kit with pride. Any and all donations are welcome – and be sure to share the fundraising link to give us the best chance to raise awareness and donations.
