Help Us Honour Shyvon. A Warrior, Mother, Carer, and Friend
Donation protected
Shyvon Catherine Hurley McKenzie was the kind of woman you never forget.
We are as a group of colleagues completing a "Chunky Dunk" in Loch Lomond on Friday 2nd May 2025 where we hope to raise money for this page and celebrate the life of our friend in a manner she would have approved and laughed about.
A beloved mother, nana, sister, wife, friend, and a fierce force of nature in the world of social care, Shyvon dedicated her life to lifting others up—even as she quietly fought a relentless battle of her own. On April 14th, 2025, after over two years of courageously facing lung cancer, our bright, bold, and beautiful Shyvon passed away, just two days after fulfilling her final wish—to marry the love of her life, Frank.
Throughout her illness, Shyvon continued working in care. She was deeply devoted to her role at Oakview Manor, where she supported residents, mentored colleagues, and earned multiple award nominations for her exceptional dedication. She believed in showing up for others, even on the days when her own strength was fading. That was Shyvon’s spirit—resilient, generous, and full of heart.
Now, we, her friends, are asking for your help.
The sudden loss of Shyvon has left a significant financial burden. Her family is now facing the costs of her funeral and the harsh reality of losing her vital income. Every donation, no matter how small, will help ease that pressure—allowing those who loved her to grieve without the weight of financial hardship.
Your contribution will help:
Cover funeral and memorial costs that reflect the dignity and love Shyvon deserves
Support her partner and children as they adjust to life without her presence and income
Honour her legacy as a phenomenal carer who gave selflessly until the very end
If you knew Shyvon, you’ll remember her laugh—loud and infectious. You’ll remember her mischief, her warmth, her unstoppable humour, her obsession with elephants, and her fierce loyalty. If you didn’t know her, we hope this gives you a glimpse of the extraordinary woman we’ve lost—and why her story deserves to be honoured with grace, love, and community support.
Please donate if you can, and share this page widely. Let’s show the same generosity to Shyvon’s family that she showed to everyone lucky enough to know her.
Thank you for helping us celebrate and carry forward the legacy of a life so beautifully and boldly lived.
