Thank you to everyone who has donated thus far and anyone visiting the page. We are happy to say we've reached our goal for Mike's celebration. If you still wish to donate it will help support the Citadel Football team.

We are heartbroken by the recent passing of our father Mike Tanner, a man whose life was defined by generosity, mentorship, and an unwavering commitment to the people around him. Whether on the field, or in everyday life, he had a rare ability to bring out the best in others. His legacy as a father, teacher, coach and role model has left a lasting impact on so many, and we want to honour that in a way that truly reflects who he was.

We are asking for support to help us celebrate his life and give him the sendoff he deserves. This gathering will be more than a farewell—it will be a chance for family, friends, players, coaches and the community to come together, share stories, and recognize the incredible influence he had on so many lives.

Any funds raised beyond the cost of the celebration of life will be put toward an education fund for his beloved granddaughter, Ellen, and his grandchild expected this August—continuing his legacy of supporting and investing in the next generation.

In addition, a donation will be made in his honour to the nurses of the Urology Department at the VG, as a way of giving back to those who cared for him with compassion and dedication.

During the celebration of life, we will be hosting a silent auction featuring some of his memorabilia. Proceeds from the auction will be donated to the Citadel Football Program, a community that meant so much to him and where his impact will be felt for years to come.

We will be celebrating Mike's life and achievements at Citadel High School on May 16th, 2026 from 11:00am - 1:30pm (1855 Trollope Street). All are welcome.
