As it goes all too often, a loved one passes unexpectedly without life insurance or another financial plan, leaving a grieving family with the burden of scrambling to raise funds to cover the abundant end-of-life expenses. Our story is unfortunately no different. As his next of kin all of this financial burden falls on my 22 year old sister who is not prepared for any of the emotions she’s experiencing let alone the responsibility of figuring all of this out so, my mother, even though divorced from him, has taken the responsibility of making sure Zippo has a proper funeral, as well as the responsibility of closing out accounts, paying existing bills, and packing up his belongings. As you all know, none of these things are cheap or free to achieve, especially since his last home is 5 hours away. Anything you could give would help our family tremendously.
