Hello, my name is Asada, and I am the granddaughter of Vida. My grandmother was the very definition of kindness and selflessness. She gave without hesitation, even when she had little, always putting others' needs before her own. Whether it was cooking a warm meal for a neighbor, offering comfort to those in pain, or quietly helping someone through hard times, she did it with love and humility. She never sought recognition or asked for anything in return, just the chance to care for others. She never wanted to be a burden to anyone. Her gentle spirit, wise counsel, and unwavering compassion touched countless lives and left a legacy of love that we will carry with us forever.
On Friday morning, my grandmother passed suddenly in Ghana. She was only 70. Her passing came as a shock to our whole family, and with that, we are financially unprepared to give her a funeral according to her wishes and our culture. We want to give her a traditional Ghanaian funeral, a vibrant, respectful, and deeply spiritual ceremony that celebrates her life and legacy. This type of service is a sacred rite in our heritage and would mean everything to her and us.
Unfortunately, the financial burden of organizing this ceremony has been overwhelming. Flights alone are 1,500 per person, and she would want all of her children and grandchildren there. The costs include mortuary fees, a proper casket, burial fees, ceremonial clothing, food for guests, transportation, and traditional rites led by elders and clergy. These are all essential components of giving her the farewell she deserves.
We know times are hard for everyone. She truly believed there was still good in the world, and she lived every day as proof of it. We are humbly asking for help to raise money to make this possible. Every donation, no matter the size, brings us closer to honoring her the way she should be honored. With a heavy heart, thank you <3.
