It is with heavy hearts that my family and I share the passing of my grandmother, Magda, known by many as Maggie. She was a mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, and meant something special to everyone who knew her.

To her grandchildren and great grandchildren, she was “Wella.” To her sons, she was “Mami.” To everyone else, she was someone who made you feel welcomed, cared for, and fed the moment you walked into her home.

She truly was the heart of our family. Her love and presence touched everyone around her, and she had a way of making people feel at home no matter where they were. She loved life and loved her family deeply, especially her two sons, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Family was everything to her, and she showed that in everything she did.

If you knew her, you knew no one ever left her house hungry. She loved cooking for anyone who came by and always made sure everyone was taken care of. Her rice and beans were unforgettable, and sharing meals was one of the main ways she brought people together and showed love. She was also very proud of her Puerto Rican culture, especially the music, dancing, and traditions she carried with her throughout her life.

As my family and I navigate this incredibly difficult time, we are asking for help to cover funeral expenses. Our goal is $2,000, which will go toward floral arrangements, cemetery costs, decorations, and other memorial expenses so we can give her the farewell she deserves.
