My mom, Lulu Díaz Delgado, passed away peacefully on November 26, 2025, at noon, surrounded by her family after a courageous three-year battle with cancer. She was 73 years old.
My mom was born María Lourdes Garduza Díaz in Mexico City and was taught the gospel of Jesus Christ as a young girl by missionaries her older sister invited into their home. She was baptized at age 12, and from that moment forward, her faith in the Savior became her guiding light.
At 17 years old, she came to the United States as an exchange student in Portland, Oregon. She later married my dad, Fernando, and together they raised four sons and built a life centered on faith, love, and service. My mom survived multiple serious accidents throughout her life—including one with me in 1986 when a semi-trailer with failed brakes struck our van. Each time, she showed incredible resilience and gratitude, always saying the Lord had protected her for a reason.
For more than 40 years, my mom worked as a real estate agent. She had a gift for helping people feel safe, understood, and valued. Her clients trusted her, adored her, and often became close friends. She also loved animals—she cared for birds, a dog, and a cat over the years, and treated each one with tenderness.
Even during her final years, my mom showed unwavering faith and strength. She battled cancer with dignity and courage. She was tiny at just 98 lbs, but she had the heart of a giant. Her smile, her soft voice, and the sweetness of her spirit touched everyone who knew her.
She leaves behind my dad, her four sons, 14 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild—all of whom she prayed for daily and loved with her whole soul. She is reunited with her parents, sister, brother, nephew, and many other loved ones who went before her.
Celebration of Life services will be held on :

As many of you know, extended illnesses bring not only emotional and physical challenges, but also significant financial burdens. My dad has been her full-time caregiver for the past few years, and the medical costs, supplies, and end-of-life needs have weighed heavily on them.
If you feel prompted to donate, our family would be deeply grateful.
Every contribution—large or small—helps ease the financial strain on my dad and allows us to give my mom the loving farewell she deserves.
Thank you for your kindness, your prayers, and your support during this tender time.
From the bottom of my heart—thank you for loving my mom.
