This past few weeks, our family has been faced with an unthinkable heartbreak. Our beloved TJ, who received a life-saving kidney transplant 18 years ago, fought the good fight. TJ was placed on life support on 11/2 and passed on 11/10 surrounded by his family and loved ones.

A few months ago, TJ faced an unexpected insurance dispute that interrupted coverage for his essential anti-rejection medications. Despite every effort to resolve it, the lapse caused his transplanted kidney to start rejecting. One 11/2, he suffered a massive seizure and was rushed to the hospital, where doctors did their best to return the TJ we knew and loved to us.

We worked closely with LifeNet to honor TJ through organ donation — his final act of generosity that reflected the love and kindness he showed throughout his life. TJ fought through the end and will donate tissue for research.

Our family is devastated, and we are doing our best to navigate both the emotional and financial burdens that come with this tragedy. This GoFundMe is to help with medical expenses, end-of-life care, and the arrangements needed to honor TJ’s legacy.
