Help Us Honor Taiyō's Memory

Donation protected
We got Taiyō in April 2023 from the shelter. He was living outside in the field for a year prior to being brought into the shelter, and no one wanted him because he had FIV (feline immunodeficiency virus).

When we went to see him, he was sleeping on his litter and was surprised that someone wanted to see him. He right away chose us to be his guardians by giving us head rubs and kisses. As a person living with HIV and being blessed with his love, we took Taiyō into our household.

We knew our time with him was going to be short given his condition, but we gave him the best life he could possibly have. In return, he gave us love, happiness, comfort, joy, and peace.

Taiyō was also a great father/brother to our baby Shindō. He showed love, care, determination, and support to Shindō. In return, Shindō showed him many more ways to be a kitty, some good and some bad (mostly bad).

He was diagnosed with FIC (feline idiopathic cystitis). The doctor told us that they don’t know why this happens and why it happens to male cats more frequently than female cats.

Taiyō went peacefully on December 29, 2024, at 1:24 A.M. in my arms. I stayed with him through the entire euthanization. He left exactly how Richard and I saw him the first time. He left happy, grateful, and most importantly, loved.

This has been a very devastating time for both Richard and me, especially after recovering from a respiratory virus and pneumonia that lasted a month. With the passing of Taiyō and providing him a peaceful transition, it has placed a financial hardship at this moment.

Due to the above, we are not able to cremate Taiyō’s remains at the moment and create a memorial in our place to honor his memory and provide Shindō solace.

Richard, Shindō, and I are grateful for any help we receive. It will mean a lot for the three of us to have him in our presence and not in cold storage.

Peace, Blessings, and Love,

Matias, Richard, and Shindō
