Support Sierra's Family in Memorializing Her
Donation protected
On Jan. 19th 2024 my sweet sister, Sierra Nichole Evans (Maiden name Avery), went home to be with Jesus after a hard fought, 12 year battle against brain cancer. For those of you knew her, you know, Sierra was a mighty woman of God who walked by Faith and not fear. She was an incredible Mother, loving daughter, sister and friend (just like her new headstone will say).
She was a light in a dark world, and an inspiration to everyone she met.
My sister’s downhill spiral happened very quickly last year, and as a result, her passing came as a surprise, leaving us unprepared in many ways, especially financially. We did not have time to prepare or raise funds for her burial. My husband and I paid for the arrangements with a credit card knowing that God would provide a means to pay it back, or give us a chance to share the cost later. And God HAS been providing. Thanks to some members of our church family we have put a huge dent in the expenses already. However, after taking on my sister’s 3 children last year, in addition to our own 3 kids, chipping away at the remaining balance has been difficult, and the one expense we simply have not been able to afford, (but desperately want to), is a headstone for her grave.
Given the sudden nature of her passing, many of Sierra’s beloved friends and family members were not unable to visit or attend her services. I believe many people WANTED to help, but there was simply not enough time. Which is why I have decided to extend an opportunity to help us now, to raise funds for her headstone through this GoFundMe page.
Although we have truly enjoyed our new tradition of decorating the site for each holiday, we really do wish she had a proper marker so that the loved ones who come to visit can locate her.
We also really want to make this happen for her children! Although they have been so content and grateful for all the things we have done for them, and they always participate in decorating her grave when we visit, I can tell in their hearts, they would really like to see a marker there, instead of the flowers and make shift memorials.
They have been kind and understanding and gracious with me because they know money is a lot tighter now than it was before, and for this I am so so grateful. However, it is the desire of my heart (and her whole families), to have a beautiful stone marking her final resting place. Not just for HER (because she was so worth it), but for her children, and all of her beloved visitors.
Please join us in this effort to memorialize my sister properly.
Every dollar donated will be used to pay down the balance owed on Sissy’s burial expenses and her new headstone! And anything in excess of that will go directly into savings accounts set up for her children.
We thank you in advance for any donations given, and we are praying for all who receive this, that you may be blessed tenfold for your generosity. Please feel free to contact me (Brittany Staley) if you have any questions or would like additional information.
FYI, Sierra is buried at Westlawn Memorial Park in China Grove (1350 S. Main St. China Grove NC 28023)
Her grave is located on the far lawn, and runs adjacent to the street. Currently it is decorated with lots of Spring Flowers, a Butterfly memorial a handmade bouquet, some sea shells and an Easter Lilly (see picture above). Please message me or email me if you would like a copy of the map or any further details.
And last but not least, for those who want to hear more of the story, I have included a link below to the beautiful celebration of life ceremony we held for Sierra just 2 days after she passed. It was held at our church, Connect Christian church in Concord ( the video can also be found in their fb or mine). During her service, I took some time to talk about what happened in those final weeks, as I know many were shocked by the news. So please take some time to watch this beautiful tribute to Sierra if you can.
Thank you in advance for helping us make this blessing happen for my sister and her kiddos.
May the Lord Bless you and keep you, May His face shine upon you and be gracious to you.
Gratefully,
The Avery/Staley/Evans family
