Help Us Honor Shirley Jackson
- Beloved Mother, Mimi & Community Pillar
It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Shirley Jackson — a deeply loved mother, “Mimi,” and lifelong member to her school and community.
Over the past year, Shirley fought the toughest battle of her life against Stage 4 cancer. Through countless doctor appointments, rounds of chemo, and radiation treatments — nothing stopped her. She showed up with grace, courage, and determination every single day, still thinking of others even as she fought for her own life.
Shirley gave her heart and soul to Scott Libby Elementary School, where she started as an aide, then became the school librarian, and ultimately served as the Office Manager for many years. She was the heart of the campus — the person everyone could go to. She always had a smile to offer, wisdom to share, and the strength to take charge when needed.
Above all, Shirley’s greatest joy in life was her grandchildren, and her boys. They were truly her world. She lit up when she spoke about them, and everything she did was rooted in love for her family.
Now, as we grieve her unexpected loss, we’re asking for support to help give Shirley the proper celebration of life, and funeral service she truly deserves. Shirley wanted her ashes to be spread at the beach and envisioned renting a big house so loved ones could gather. This will be her celebration of life, just how she wanted it. We don’t have a set date or time yet, but we’re aiming for sometime toward the end of August and will share details once they’re finalized. Any amount, big or small, will go directly to her family to help ease the financial burden during this incredibly difficult time.
Thank you for showing love to Shirley and her family in the same way she showed love to so many of us.
With gratitude,
The Jackson Family
