Help us honor Sheila Marie Spears (Bailey)

Our mother, Sheila Marie Spears (Bailey), passed away February 28th, 2025, of cancer. Our family needs help raising funds in order to give her a funeral.

A little about our mom:

Sheila Marie Spears Bailey was born in Kansas City, KS, to Richard Spears Sr. and Alice Spears (Marks). She resided in the Argentine area and attended J. C. Harmon High School and was very involved with different clubs while she was there. After graduating in 1981, she went on to receive her nurse's aide certificate from A.V.T.S. Sheila went on to work at the University of Kansas Medical Center (KU) for many years. During her time there, she touched many lives and created lifelong friendships.

Sheila had 4 biological daughters: Victoria Spears, Ashley Spears, Aisha Bailey, and Rashida Bailey. Once her daughters were grown, Sheila felt that she had so much love and compassion that she decided to become a foster parent. Through fostering kids, Sheila found 4 kids that she ended up adopting because of her love and grace: Justin Spears, Nadia Spears, Rickey Spears, and Rickisha Spears.

Just as our mother loved her kids, she also loved the rest of our family and friends. We are asking that in lieu of flowers, please donate to our GoFundMe instead. We have a goal of $10,000, but that will only provide about half of the cost of her funeral and burial. 100% of the proceeds will go to the funeral. If there are any excess funds, they will be used to put a headstone on our grandfather's grave, who passed away 2 years ago. We thank everyone for donating; even $1 will help. No gift is too small.
