Last night, we had to say goodbye to our sweet little man, and best friend of 18 years. Remy Martin Brown was the best cat I could have ever asked for, and there was nothing I wouldn't have done for him. Sadly, after a brief battle with gastrointestinal cancer and a rapid decline, we knew that the last thing we could do for our beautiful boy was to let him go peacefully. We took him to his wonderful vet last night to receive a round of subcutaneous fluids, but once she took his vitals, it was clear that his body was starting to shut down. At best, he would have lived for a couple more day, and they would not have been happy ones. We knew that we had to make the hardest sacrifice a pet parent can make, and we said our goodbyes to him as he purred for the first time in days, letting us know that he loved us and knew that we were helping him be at peace.

Our hearts are broken. After 18 years of living with a vivacious, spirited, and silly guy like Remy, it's genuinely hard to comprehend that he's gone. As we did with our dear Cinnamon, we want to have a private cremation and have his ashes returned to us. Unfortunately, we have faced several financial challenges recently, and need help paying for Remy's vet care and memorial expenses.
