**A few people asked how they could support us after Omar's passing, so we set this up as an optional way to help. We're okay overall and don't expect anything. The support so far has been tremendous, and we're so grateful for our community. **

It is with heavy hearts that we share the sudden loss of our beloved pup, Omar.

Omar swallowed a small toy that caused a blockage which didn’t appear as a clear threat on X-rays, but was causing serious harm - a fever, loss of appetite, and aspiration pneumonia. We were able to successfully remove it with a scope, and for a few hours, he seemed like himself again. We truly thought he was going to be okay.

Tragically, the aspiration pneumonia, a severe and fast-moving lung infection, had other plans. His condition declined rapidly, and he required oxygen support. We were faced with the option of intensive, invasive treatment with no guarantee of recovery. After everything he had already endured, we made the heartbreaking but compassionate decision to let him go peacefully.

To make matters more difficult, Omar’s pet insurance had just ended at the end of March due to a large premium increase, and we had not yet secured a replacement. We are now facing substantial veterinary expenses from trying to save his life.

About Omar:

Omar was pure personality: curious, mischievous, and endlessly lovable. He was always getting into things and keeping us on our toes, but that was part of his charm. He brought so much joy, laughter, and energy into our lives, and our home feels impossibly quiet without him.

We will miss him forever.
