It is with a heavy heart that I share the sudden passing of my Godfather, Noelio Cordeiro. Last Tuesday, while taking a midday nap, Noelio tragically passed away due to a heart attack caused by clogged coronary arteries. He was just 61 years old, a man full of love and life, who was working full-time and dedicated to those he cared for.

Noelio was born and raised in São Paulo, Brazil, and moved to San Francisco, California, at 30 years old with my mother in search of a better life. He had not seen his family—his parents, siblings, nieces, and nephews—in over 20 years, though they always remained close to his heart.

Noelio wasn’t just my Godfather; he was like a father to me in every way that mattered. He raised me, changed my diapers, dropped me off at school every day, and taught me the values I live by today, I am just one of the many people he cared for and treated with the upmost love. He was the kind of person who would go to the ends of the earth for the people he loved—no matter the distance, danger, or difficulty, he was always the first one by your side.

His passing has deeply affected everyone who knew him. On the night he left us, over twenty people came to my mom's house to grieve together and honor his memory.

We are looking to raise $6,000 to help cover the costs of Noelio’s funeral and assist with the flight expenses for his siblings, who had to travel from Brazil to San Francisco to handle the necessary arrangements with the coroner and cemetery. Despite living with my mom and me for the last 10 years, we were unable to take care of these details as they required direct family involvement.
