Help Us Honor Myra Martinez's Memory
Donation protected
Hi everyone, my name is Debra Gallegos and I have made this GoFundMe to hopefully, by the grace of God and generosity from caring people like you, to raise money for my sister Myra Martinez. My big sister was a very beautiful, loving, giving, caring, selfless, amazing sister, mother, auntie, niece, grandmother, and wife! She never hurt a soul, and she always took in her family without any questions or hesitation. She also waited on hand and foot for her whole family. We all knew whether we were visiting or living in her home, we were always well-fed and loved to the fullest! Breakfast, lunch, and dinner. She at some points took care of my children and myself. She was there for all 3 of her kids to the best of her ability, even all the way into their adult years up until the day she passed. She treated her husband like a king and even took in and took care of his family at different points in her life as well.
Unfortunately, my sister fell extremely ill recently over the last few months. She wasn't being given her medicine properly or being taken care of at all. Because of this, she ended up in the hospital. She suffered 2 strokes, a seizure, and an allergic reaction which pushed her into dysphagia. Dysphagia means she no longer can swallow and now has to be fed through a tube in her stomach. Also, from before, suffering from congestive heart failure, high blood pressure, diabetes, and a previous stroke. For the last 2 months, my sister has been back and forth between hospitals and rehabilitation centers. Her last stay at a rehab center called Princeton Place was, of all, the worst. My sister was supposed to be there to rehabilitate and instead, she was left to lie there and suffer. They weren't cleaning her, changing her gown, cleaning her mouth, or moving her around. She ended up with bed sores, pneumonia, and also became septic. These things were only found out after complaining about her care to someone in charge. Because of this complaint, she was moved into a different part of the building, to be "more closely monitored." This is when she was rushed back to the hospital. Week after week, going back and forth from place to place, watching my sister suffer and suffer, unresponsive, not knowing if she would ever come to, and look at us or talk to us ever again, was more pain than we can ever imagine. However, for only a short time, there she was sitting up, eyes wide open, finally able to speak, no longer breathing with a tube, and a big smile on her face to see me, her little sister, her niece, friend, and daughter there to visit her. We left that night, telling her how we would be back the very next day to see her again. All of us were extremely happy to see her finally alert for the first time in several weeks. Suddenly, my sister Myra goes into cardiac arrest and despite the doctors' and nurses' best efforts to save my big sister, she had already left this earth and was on her way up to heaven to be with her son Richard, our mom Virginia, our father Pete, our brother Billy, and our Lord in heaven. She is no longer suffering.
If you can find it in your hearts to help our family raise the money to bury my sister, we all would greatly appreciate it. We know times are tough and not everyone can help. For those who can, and can't, God bless you all!! Please, if you can spare a moment, and even if you cannot donate, share this GoFundMe. Thank you all and God bless.
