Help Us Honor My Mom’s Memory

My mom and I started to reconnect and repair our relationship after many years of ups and downs. It wasn’t until I became an adult that she shared her heartbreaking childhood with me, and I finally understood why she was the way she was. Her life was filled with struggle and pain, but also with moments of love and generosity that I will always cherish. We were finally beginning to heal when she passed away unexpectedly.

Thanks to my best friend, I was able to attend my mom’s wake last week. However, the celebration of life is on May 3rd, and I want to be there with my two kids to honor her memory. I also plan to build a rose garden in her front yard in the days before the celebration—a living memorial that symbolizes her strength and beauty, just like roses that have thorns to protect themselves. This garden will also give my stepdad a peaceful place to reflect and remember the woman he loved.

Normally, I’m not the type to ask for help, but almost a month ago my husband was in a motorcycle accident and is now an above-the-knee amputee. Money is tight for us, and I can’t afford the airfare for myself and my kids to attend the celebration or to create the rose garden. Any support you can give would mean the world to our family and help us honor my mom in the way she deserves. Thank you for considering helping us during this difficult time.
