For most of my life, I’ve dedicated myself to serving my communities in Hawaii and, since 2018, in southwest Florida. After Hurricane Irma, I was asked by a previous employer to relocate to Florida to help with the aftermath, using my skills and expertise in the roofing industry. I sacrificed time with my family to serve the companies I worked for, always giving my all to their customers with the utmost respect and care. Through this relentless effort, I became known as a true, consistent 5-star generator—because it brings me joy to help, especially those who need a break from life’s challenges. That’s what I’m known for: my Service With Aloha.
After Hurricane Milton hit Florida, I was fired just days later, leaving me stranded and facing what I believe to be a wrongful termination. On January 9th, 2026, I lost my job and found myself struggling to make ends meet, living paycheck to paycheck. Just a few days later, my world was turned upside down again when I learned that my mom was being taken off a ventilator in Arizona. Her life partner, who has been like a mother to me, called to say things weren’t looking good. The doctors gave her only a week or two, and I had no way to get to her because of my financial situation and ongoing job search.
We moved my mom to hospice on January 14th, hoping for more time or a change in her condition. Sadly, on January 15th at 3:50pm, my mom passed away. Now, I am left to handle all of her affairs with no job, no savings, and mounting bills. My mom spent everything she had to buy a trailer home for her life partner, but there are concerns that they may have been taken advantage of by the seller’s realtor and the care home where my mom stayed for two years. There were incidents of possible mistreatment that were never documented, and now I am trying to navigate legal and financial challenges on top of my grief.
Asking for help is very difficult for me, especially on this scale, because I’ve always been a giver and taken pride in serving others. I know many of us are struggling right now with the current economy, rising inflation, and the cost of living. Please know it’s not necessary to donate—your prayers and sharing this with others to pray for my situation is more valuable than anything else. Any support you can offer would mean the world to me and my family during this incredibly difficult time. Your kindness will help us honor my mom’s wishes and get through this period of loss and uncertainty.
