I never thought I’d find myself starting a GoFundMe but with sore eyes and trembling hands, here I am. It was never my aim to post my mom’s fight with cancer to end up doing something like this. I wanted a story of family coming together against a common enemy. I wanted it to be a story of triumph. On July 5th, that plot quickly changed and the pages started getting shorter and shorter. Our mom was losing her battle against cancer. 5 days later on July 10th at 11:20AM our story ended and we knew life was never going to be the same again. Song Qing Chen, or as my sister and I called her -mom, was 58 years old when she lost her battle against cancer after fighting for 5 long months. It brought us closer than ever as a family and at the end, I think it’s all she ever wanted. I hope our story inspires you to hold your loved ones a little closer and tell them you love them.
